5 Days to Essential Cyber Security
Significantly reduce the exposure of your small business to the most common internet-based threats - quickly, easily, and cheaply!
Are you a small business owner who is worried about cyber risk? Perhaps you already realize that a cyber incident could have serious implications for your business and your livelihood.
It is increasingly clear that small businesses are highly vulnerable to cyberattacks and that all small businesses should become cyber resilient; they should be able to survive the inevitable cyber incident when it happens. Sadly, it is now a question of “when” and not “if” a cyber incident will occur.
The good news is that it's not expensive or complicated to put basic cybersecurity in place to protect your small business from the most common internet-based threats. There is a ready-made framework to follow to achieve this objective. It's called "Cyber Essentials" and I will tell you all about it in this short course.
You'll learn all about Cyber Essentials - a UK government-sponsored scheme designed to address the most common internet-based threats.
You'll learn about the options available for your small business to get started with the Cyber Essentials scheme.
I will explain the 5 key controls of Cyber Essentials and how you can implement each control in your small business.
I'll explain your options for what's next once you get the Cyber Essential controls in place.
Finally, you'll learn that basic cybersecurity is well within the reach of small businesses.
We'll walk you through the Cyber Essential scheme and explain its 5 key controls. You'll go from "curious about cyber risk" to implementing a clear action plan for essential small business cybersecurity.
When you enroll today, you get immediate access to the 5 Days course content:
Each day includes a pre-recorded video, its audio file, and a transcript. There are action points for each day to help you apply the concepts immediately to your business. Day 5 includes a slide deck handout and supporting documents. Lessons can be completed at your own pace.

This short course is for the owners and managers of all small businesses who want to get basic cybersecurity controls in place quickly.
Yes, this short course is completely free - 100%. There's no catch. I am offering it to small business leaders in the hope that it may help them get started with the complex area of cyber risk.
No. I created this short course for non-technical people - like myself. No technical knowledge is required, just a willingness to learn!
I have had to learn about cyber risk the hard way without a technical background, so I hope that I can be a good guide to other small business leaders. There are a few details about myself as the course instructor below.
I’m John Byrne, entrepreneur, insurance professional, Chartered Certified Accountant, and CEO of Surviving Cyber. I have over 40 years of business experience, including a 28-year career with international banking and insurance groups as a financial risk assessment specialist. For the last 15 years, I have been an entrepreneur, co-founding an insurance underwriting business at Lloyd's of London, where I was Chief Risk Officer.
"There are risks and costs to a program of action - but they are far less than the long-range cost of comfortable inaction."
John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States
